I am trying to identify a used kubota. I know it is grey market as there is no safety features and any writing is in Japanese. I couldn't find a model number any where. It is advertised as a L235DT. The engine has 1395cc stamped on it. I've read else where that this is the D1400/D1402 engine. I've also read that the L2202 and L2402 models had this engine. The hood is rather square and the muffler comes up through the left side of the hood. It is a manual shift with 8 gears. Any help is much appreciated!

Kubota's site does not show this model under their grey market list or if so I missed it. Have you tried their web site on this? kt ....

No the L235 isn’t a grey, but the L2202 and L2402 are. According to tractorsmart.com the L235 has the D1102A 1115cc engine in it. So, I don’t believe it is a L235 unless someone put this other engine (1395cc) in it if that is possible? ....

I have no idea on your engine. It would seem something here does not make sense. You say it has no safety features and the writing is Japanese and then it is not a grey market model? The only suggestion I have is to ask the current owner to explain. I would be careful. kt ....

Just check the serial number and model on the machine.
Everyone of them has a serial number set right into the casting, usually on a face which has been machined smooth in the casting.
If there is a plate, but all the writing is in JApanese, it IS a gray market machine, PERIOD.

That's precisely my problem, I couldn't find the serial number and model on the machine. I do know IT IS a gray market, but I am not sure of the model.

Kubota puts a serial number and mdel, etc., on every machine they make.
I do however think some of the older lower-priced models may have had riveted on plates as opposed to what I described.
Have you looked under the hood, etc., for a sticker?
I would show you what the words "model" or "serial number" should look like, but neither this site nor your browser will support the Japanese character set. It will just put in random characters instead of what I type.
